eCornell University Challenges

The following work was created to fulfill requirements for Cornell University’s Presentation Design and Delivery certificate program.

Challenge #1: Redesign an Ineffective Slide Deck

Tasked with redesigning a slide deck from an online source using the techniques taught in the course. Main objectives were to remove bullets and text-heavy slides and replace with full sentence headers and targeted visuals that amplified the main points and didn’t distract from the presenter.

My Solution

β€œYour work here is strong, and the changes you are implementing are thoughtful and targeted. Love the final, clean, targeted slide deck. You have done a wonderful job.”

Challenge #2: Creating a Slide Deck for Live & Legacy Use

Create a technical presentation that again focused on sentence headers for clear statements on the topic for the slide, visuals that provided a backdrop for the topic and also utilized the notes section to create a document for archival practices.

β€œI LOVE this! You are experimenting with your own style while using processes that will make your workflows more valuable. The large-picture format works so well now and again, the notes are amazing!”

Challenge #3: Produce a Video Giving a Presentation

The presentation needed to be for a specific audience about a technical or business topic. The final outcome should be a public-facing video that included slides and a recording of me. The goal was to bring together the skills and techniques covered in the course to showcase my executive or professional presence.

I chose to create the presentation as a pretend freelance presentation designer recording the first training video in my fictitious online training program.

β€œThe video was targeted, well crafted, and (frankly) beautiful. Your pace was spot on, and it was easy to understand all of the way through. You did a wonderful job of folding all of the concepts from the modules along the way. The use of the Notes pane was lovely.

After doing this for a good long time with eCornell, I think that you are the first to actually "dress up" for the talk and really make it a video that you could use to highlight your own skills and knowledge. That was awesome for me, and I hope that you feel extremely accomplished.”
